Getting started¶
NetRoll runs amateur-radio nets — coordinated on-air meetups where stations check in, exchange signal reports, and follow a net-control-moderated agenda. This section takes you from nothing to a working account and your first net, in about ten minutes total.
The path¶
1. Create an account — magic-link sign-in, terms, and your callsign. Everyone starts here. ~3 minutes.
Then take whichever branch matches you:
2a. Run your first net — create a net, take it live, and log a station checking in. For net owners and net control stations. ~5 minutes.
2b. Join a net — find a running net, watch the roster update live, and check yourself in. For participants. ~3 minutes.
Watching a net needs no account at all. If that's all you're after, skip step 1 and go straight to join a net.

Where to go next¶
Once you've run or joined a net:
- Nets — schedule a net, control who can find it, add co-owners.
- Live sessions — the full operating console: check-ins, roster, roles, handoff, exports.
- Your account — change your email, connect QRZ, export your data.
Learn the vocabulary¶
NetRoll uses net terminology throughout, and a few words mean something specific inside the app — a net definition is not the same thing as a net session.
- Glossary — every term, including the NetRoll-specific ones.
- Session lifecycle — what scheduled, live, paused, and closed actually mean.
- Net visibility — why some nets appear in discovery and others are reachable only by link.
